Building Tokenistt: An AI Infrastructure Startup Story
Why we started Tokenistt — an AI cost management startup from Indore building LLM observability for engineering teams shipping Claude in production.
Tokenistt started as a weekend tool with a simple question: what does a single Claude API call actually cost — and could we know before shipping it?
That question became an AI infrastructure startup focused on one thing: making LLM spend as visible as database queries or cloud CPU.
The insight
Every team we talked to had the same pain:
- Finance asks why the AI bill doubled
- Engineers cannot attribute cost to features
- Prompts grow silently until someone notices in a dashboard weeks later
There was no profiler for prompts. No lint warning for expensive context. We decided to build that layer.
What we are building
Tokenistt is an AI cost management and LLM spend observability platform:
- MCP server between your editor and Anthropic
- Real-time token metering and spend attribution
- Waste detection, optimization, and cache intelligence
- Team governance for production AI infrastructure
We distribute through the tools developers already use: Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code.
Where we are today
We are in private beta. The MCP server is in active development. Our marketing site and documentation describe the full vision; early users get waitlist access and closed-beta onboarding with direct founder support.
If you are building with Claude and care about sustainable AI economics, we would love to hear from you.
